Mel Rice has now opened a new community pottery studio in The Richmond District in San Francisco called STUDIO CERAMICA. It is located on Geary Blvd. between 25th - 26th Ave. and will be offering throwing and hand building classes given by Mel and guest potters. POTTERY WHEEL CLASSES https://www.facebook.com/events/160470147833652 6-week / Clay Wheel-Throwing + Basic Hand-Building-$325 Thursdays, August 24th - Sept. 28th 6:00pm-9:00pm. + 3 hours of FREE studio time per week! Click the link above to register.
Learn how to throw clay on a pottery wheel just like Patrick and Demi Moore in Ghost and join a great community of people. This class will include 15 pounds of clay, glazes, and firings. This coarse also includes 3 hours a week of free studio time on top of the class time. Hand building is also taught on the first day to introduce the students to a variety of clay bodies. Mel will be teaching the throwing classes but new teachers are to come! This class is great for beginners or pros. Mel will be able to help any thrower at any level. Even those who have never touched clay! All are welcome. Everything made in this class is food safe. Also, students will be able to make-up classes if missed!
ABOUT MEL'S TEACHING Melissa spent 8 years at the pottery studio at the Fort Mason Campus of San Francisco City College as both a student and a studio manager. This experience taught her every facet of ceramics from glaze making to throwing, giving her a wide breath of knowledge unparalleled by other ceramists. She is currently a full time production potter in San Francisco.
More weekdays and weekend classes will be coming soon. Stay tuned! Email email@example.com for any further questions.
